Hi all,

I'm a rookie internet earner and I'm a lurker here at EF. I'm trying to boost my earnings, and I have noticed a lot of tools made to help improve earnings seem geared towards Windows users. Is it hurting my chances to earn that I'm running on Linux [Ubuntu]?

What would you say is the best operating system for earners?

Most of the best tools available to web earners (publishers) are more commonly available for Microsoft based operating systems (2000 to XP through to the vista betas) and are becoming more popular among the Mac OS range, Linux shouldn't affect what you do as a heck of a lot of earners tools are web-based these days anyway, however I would consider running dualboot with an XP based OS.

I agree with Anthony... From Adsense optimizing tools to revenue logs, it all mainly web based. But if you think that the OS is going to affect toue performance I suggest getting a Mac, because you can run both Windows (via Bootcamp or Parrarels) and Ubunta on it, as well as the default Mac OS X...

I personally will never get a Mac - I don't want to join the fanboy cult.

Then you obviously have no idea about what the Mac is capable of, they were in fashion way before windows based machines became a demand.

I'll be switching to a mac come September

I know computers well. I run a forum about them. I've tried Macs. I prefer Linux and Windows. If you're going to tell me what I know and don't know, then I'll be going elsewhere.

I am merely stating that macs are much more than a fashion trend to follow, I said nothing about how they compare technically to Linux or Windows based systems.

If you don't like peoples opinions then maybe you shouldn't post asking such questions.

I don't want this to turn into a Mac and PC war, but my slam against people who say MACs been here longer is, windows must be better if 93% of people use windows (source PC World mag) and 3% Mac. and my belief is that apple should have died already, but it still has it's devoted fans and I think the ipod helped it's popularity (and now being able to run an x86 based OS on a Mac is going to help aswell).

Ok, so you don't like Macs, but your argument that you don't want to become a fanboy is pretty childish in that regard. I know of a lot of people who like using Windows and Linux and know why they use them, as well as respect their choice. But what you said about would make me believe you think that all Mac users are fanboys, which says to me that you don't respect my choice but want me to respect yours...

@Romestar:
Lol, 90% of those 93% use Windows just because they are used to it, it's not like it's a choice. For example here in Croatia, Microsoft has a monopoly in the goverment so people are taught to use Windows and Office as default. Most don't know what Mac or Linux even is... It's like democracy... As for x86 OS-s it's just going to help in the regard that now people will have the choice to choose Windows or Mac or Linux. Statistics aren't a measurment for quality.

Anyways, I think were starting to go offtopic now. Let leave Ashleys thread alone and not mention our OS differences
