A .in (or .us/.eu/etc..) with a fairly good domain name 2 50.00%
Why not go for .info/.net/.org if you can get a domain better than a .com? 1 25.00%

This .com is saturated to the core and hardly one gets to get good names these days.

Can I have a .in (India) name. Is it ok even if I get more of US-UK-Dutch-Australian traffic than Indian traffic? Infact this niche got nothing to do with India (I mean specifically; though people all over the world can use/benefit)

What do you think if you look/browse a .in (or .us/.au/.eu/.cn and you're not from that country)? Does it affect traffic?

I've made a poll, please do vote and let me know as to what you think. Suggestions are welcome!!

Thanks for the response! I found a perfect domain with an .in extension. Let's take Formula One for example.
formula-one.in is available. formula-one.com/.net/org all are taken. All I want to ask is whether can I go for formula-one.in or formulaone-home.com or somewhat like that?

Also please address this:

I can't say I have much experience, but I would go for the .net, instead of a -.com .

I am a .com fan myself. Even if you get a different extension, people will still type in yoursite.com by accident and you will lose traffic.

If your website is going to target India then the .in should be fine. If it is going to target anybody in general, then I recommend picking something that is available as a .com.

Hope that helps.

I got .in domain. I had no choice, all the other combinations were taken. Even .net/.org with "-" were taken. The name was Generic like formula one, so it got a "-" as well.

.in was launched just 20 months back, so some sweet domains are still available and it'll take time to mature. I'm still learning..let's see how it goes.

Thanks for the suggestion guys!

Agreed. Also, if you type in a term into a browser, it will automatically add .com to it

I would try an .in with a good domain name.
If you go with .org, .net, people will still use .com most of the time.
