Hi all,
A few testimonies on EF are leaving enough clues to find what the site is. (I have reported them to the owners, and they made the necessary changes).
But keep in mind people like me are sponges and want to learn everything possible. I was able to successfully track stuff down without spending much time.
Here is some tips to help thwart efforts - Don't post a website that reveals your whois info.
- Don't post images from your website, use an free image service like flickr or imgshack.
- You may not want to have the same username that is somehow connected to the site you are hidding.
- Don't list sites that have mentioned your sites name.
- Put your successful sites on different servers or IPs than your public sites/blogs
- Use different nameservers for each site if possible.
- If you do these, post them in the private threads
This is not foolproof but it helps. Individually these tips each aren't bad but you put a few clues together and they make searching for that site much easier.
I tell you these tips because I want to see EF more successful. If we have to many sites exposed, those users may not open freely to the community. And we are learning so much from everyone’s posts. Let’s keep it up!
ps. Even though I was researching and finding these out, I didn't do if for any malicious reasoning, just to learn.
