Wanting to make my room into an office

I want to remove all my furniture, put in one of those cool corner desks, buy a desktop computer, put up my A2 Network clock on the wall ( ), and stuff.
Any suggestions on how exactly I should set it up, what furniture to buy, what desktop to get, what cool things to put around there, etc?
I'd like to keep everything (apart from the desktop computer) under $1,000 USD.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Edit - Im definitely wanting dual 19 inch monitors lol

First do you have another room to sleep in, or are you sleeping on your office chair :P
My room has dual 19" monitors and all the bells of whistles, it is pretty sweet. Although I couldn't see how having a dedicated office work for you

Well, if I get into my first choice college, I'll be living at home and saving that almost $20k+/year. In that case, I'd be using an office for homework, schoolwork, web-business running, cheating in school (xD), etc.
I've actually never owned a desktop before really. I just buy crazy cool laptops ever-so-often being they're usually more practical for me.
And I can move into my brother's room :P

Indeed, I do have a basement, but it sucks, there's no door to outside from it, and I have a crazy uncle who lives in my house with like 20 suitcases down there.

If your laptop is fast, you might consider doing what I do.... I have two "platforms" on my desk in front of me... on the one directly in front of me is my 17" LCD monitor. On the platform to the left of that I place my laptop, so that its screen is exactly level with the LCD next to it. I then simply connect a few cables (audio, video, power, mouse/keyboard etc) and I'm up and running (if your laptop can have a docking station it's even easier).... you also get instant dual screens this way
Until recently I did use a desktop as my primary computer, but ended up finding it wasting far too much time trying to keep the files on both computers in sync, or remembering which system had which file I was working on last. That and my laptop has a Pentium M and more RAM, so it's faster than my older Athlon desktop. Soooo.... I sat down for one long day and synched all the files from both systems onto the laptop, transferred my email and everything else, and haven't turned the desktop back on in over a month now. More often than not I nearly forget I'm using a laptop.... that is until it comes time to pack up real quick and take my work to Starbucks
So point being, my advice is to forego the desktop, and stick with the laptop. Could free up some more funds for other nice things instead.

Am I the only person in this topic that doesn't live with my parents and conducts all my work from an office instead of a "bedroom"?

Indeed.
Well the thing is, my laptop isn't going to be fast enough anymore, its over a year old now (still worth $1k+ on eBay though used lol) and its been a real hassle upgrading it over and over again. I hear upgrading laptop processor's are basically a no-no, and I think I could hold out with my laptop for about another year then get a brand new nice one for college.
I did try to hookup my LCD monitor to my laptop, but I never managed to install the drivers properly and it looked all ugly and stuff lol.
Desktop would be nice to have so I could easily upgrade my hardware whenever I wanted to. Plus, I could get a cool case lol.
lol @ TriteLife - I'm planning on living in my house through college even, I'm not going to be like my brother and rent an apartment and waste money like that. Real estate is always nice to OWN, and I want to make sure that is one of the first things I can do.

I don't really care what people think though, plus I already went to my school and put up A2 Network magnets on a large number of lockers with my name on them too lol.
Someone started a rumor that I'm making six figures a year already so I really dont care lol.
I just got one desk into my room now and I still have my bed. Eventually I'll take out my bed, toss in another desk and a $3,000+ desktop computer, put in a nice plasma TV, and voila.

Good thing that you told them what you do, and they're aware, rumours was going around that I'm a big time drug dealer...

Oh sure, they say that about me too, given the fact that I'm half Colombian and my brother spent a year locked up for dealing....
