What EXACTLY Does Shoemoney Do to Make So Much Money?

I've got an interesting idea...since everyone here is so secretive about exactly how they make their money, why don't we research and dissect exactly what certain people do and post our theories on how they make money so WE can do the same thing and make money too.
So, let's start with that Shoemoney guy... you know the one that flashed the huge adsense check. I don't know a lot about him except he apparantly makes a lot of dough. I've read that he is in the ringtone business and know he runs shoemoney.com. I also read that in earlier years he was in the porn business but think he's out of that now.
Anyone have any theories on exactly what he is doing to get huge adsense checks?

What do you mean by cloaking? How do you make money from that? The best thing would be if we could get a list of his web sites...

In terms of search engine marketing, this is the act of getting a search engine to record content for a URL that is different than what a searcher will ultimately see. It can be done in many technical ways. Several search engines have explicit rules against unapproved cloaking. Those violating these guidelines might find their pages penalized or banned from a search engine's index. As for approved cloaking, this generally only happens with search engines offering paid inclusion program.
Usually works good for a few months then gets your sites banned, but can make money very quickly.
Not sure of his site urls though im sure he would never give that out public

Why are we wasting our time? I'm amazed at how many people are so loyal to shoemoney. I like the guy too, but I need more money. I think he'd actually be impressed by this thread.

Jeremy shares a lot more about making money online than most other online marketers do... If you want to find out what he's doing, it's not really that important to know what the sites are, but just look closely at the strategies he is suggesting. Of course he won't reveal everything, but you can still get a lot out of his blog, radio show, interviews, etc.
From what I know, he has at least three major sources of income:
1) affiliate arbitrage with ringtones, etc. (and he says he tries lots of the CJ offers)
2) forum subscriptions -- profitpapers.com/papers/shoemoney-interview.php says he gets $19.95 every 6 months from 95,000 people...that is A LOT of cash!
3) AdSense revenue -- probably on his forums, perhaps some PPC arbitrage
I think his "secret" is that he's working hard, working smart, exploiting some of the grey areas, scaling his efforts, and always testing. Without testing yourself, it's a lot harder to know what works for you and what doesn't.

It's a PR6 with ( link: ) results in 829 links, mostly internals. And it's ugly.

i think that you guys should find your own niche... and then build a site around it. there's so many ways to make money online...shoemoney is just one person up there. find something you like doing and do it.

I am with Max here, you guys are wasting your time. Shoemoney is into arbitrage amongst other things.
Just do trial and error, not trying to replicate someone else's ideas. Who really cares how Shoemoney makes his money, as he said when he was on the podcast with Jon, if he told you or you learnt how he did it, you would be back every week asking what to do next.
Where as if you work out the whole thing by yourself, you can do it alone and never rely on someone else of how they do there stuff. Arbitrage is a good place to start, just get a credit card, adsense account, universal template and a logic brain.
Wam bam thankyou ma'am

well its working nicely for him. heres the lookup for you if you dont beleive me. he is making alot of money from his adsense on this site. so if you want to do what he does. then buy alot of domains with traffic and point them somewhere you have decent useful content. cause thats one of his techniques. he owns prob thousands of domains and has them pointed to his bigger earning sites.

Based on the Alexa chart at alexaholic.com/nextpimp.com?y=p&r=5y&z=3 I can see why it's only his Sep 2005 AdSense check that Shoe is posing with. That's when the traffic on that site seems to have peaked.
But he seems to have moved his focus to other niches...as he says in that profitpapers.com interview "I think I have beat that horse enough though."
But as mike82 said, just find your own niche. Work on something you love, because that's what will help you stay focused and working hard to build something good.

Jeremy has a highly diversified web empire, and I have the odd feeling that he talks more about the things that aren't working than the things that are.
But really, there are no secrets to making money on the web.
- Build content
- Get links
- Monetize your traffic
It's not rocket science, it's just a bit of work.

First off,
People show a GROSS check from Adsense. Not a net check. As anyone, who's not a complete idiot, knows, business people are most concerned with net profit.
When I used to sell Dialup services, I grossed $40K monthly easily, but had tons of expenses. If Shoemonkey is doing "ad arbitrage" as some of his "followers" claim, then that's an expense.
BTW, 8/2005 was also my best month in Adsense. Perhaps he should show a new check, and show us a list of expenses.
If you really think he has 95,000 people paying him $19.95 monthly, the crack you're smoking is way too strong.

Well said.
The day I realized that it takes actual work to make money online is the day I started making money online... literally.
