Okay, I am building a new house and want to get surround sound set up.

So this is my question: what do you suggest to get?

I also want to hook up the sound system so it plays outdoors on my porches, etc.

Give me your suggestions/opinions.

I would look locally for a company that specializes in interior entertainment set-ups you are looking for. They will know. Ask your neighbors for recommendations and check out their systems.

The rule of hiring a contractor is to double whatever their initial bid is, because they'll always try to sell you more during the build. It, of course, depends on your buget.

Use wireless speakers for the outdoors. They work fine and are replaceable.

Last year, I took about 6 months researching everything before I built my new Home Theater... Do you just want a good sound system for your living room? Or will you have a room dedicated for it?

I ended up using a room we had on the 3rd floor of our house. One thing I was able to do was sound proof the room so I wouldn't wake up my family or next door neighbors! Google: Green Glue, its a great product that I used between two sheets of drywall to keep sound in the room. My sub flooring has vinyl barrier on top, then another layer of 3/4 flooring, then the carpet.

I went with the Denon AVR-4806 receiver - which is the heart of your system. For the sub, I went with a SVS Cylinder: http://www.svsound.com/Products-sub-cyl.cfm Speakers I went with Klipsch RF series, which will last you a life time: https://www.klipsch.com/products/hom...r-systems.aspx Last is the TV - the best advice I can give anyone is to buy your TV from Costco. They have great pricing, but the best thing is their No Questions Asked return policey. You can take the tv back in a year and return if something goes wrong, trying doing that with best buy and its a pain. I suggest the Panasonic Plasma series, http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...opnav=&browse=

Bose all the way! For TV, I suggest get the new Sony Bravia models, they look beautiful.

I only have it in my 'living/family' room.

I have the wires run for all of the speakers so I am really looking for recommendations for speakers themselves and a receiver.
