What do you guys feel that sets young entrepenurs such as myself apart from other people who feel that they should work in order to make there employer rich.

1) What do you feel is special about our minds that sets us apart from others who are not business oriented?

it's the same as the athlete that's good at a sport and does what's necessary to be good at it. they work at it constantly and do what produces results.

I want to work for myself, I want to do what I want to do, and how I want to do it. I want to not have to ask someone else to implement my own ideas, or have to implement other people's ideas.

They see something that others do not.

They believe in something that no one else does.

They are not afraid to make some mistakes.

They don’t see a mistake as a failure.

They don’t see a failure as the end.

They often do things for what appears totally irrational to ‘logical minds’.

The following characteristics were listed, and top entrepreneurs were asked whether they agreed they were characteristics of entrepreneurs such as themselves or not:

* Filled with energy
* Flooded with ideas
* Driven, restless, and unable to keep still
* Channels their energy into the achievement of wildly grand ambitions
* Often works on little sleep
* Feels brilliant, special, chosen, or perhaps even destined to change the world
* Can be euphoric
* Becomes easily irritated by minor obstacles
* Risk taker
* Overspender in both personal and business life
* Acts out sexually
* Sometimes acts impulsively, with poor judgement, in ways that can have painful consequences
* Fast-talking
* Witty and gregarious
* Charismatic and persuasive
* Prone to making enemies and feels they are persecuted by those who do not accept their vision and mission

All of the entrepreneurs (Internet ones in this case) agreed that the description was accurate, even rating themselves "7 out of 5" on many of the characteristics, although there was some disagreement on the paranoia and sexual acting out issues (but the author suggests that might be because they're "the bad ones" to admit to).

What's funny is that the list actually has nothing (directly/officially) to do with entrepreneurs — it's actually the description of someone who is hypomanic

The moral - a fine line divides brilliance from madness.
Hypomania isn't necessarily bad, it's the tendency toward depression and severe manic episodes that comes with it that is dangerous.

Only these characteristics from the list above pertain to me. I am an entrepreneur:

* Filled with energy
* Flooded with ideas
* Channels their energy into the achievement of wildly grand ambitions
* Feels chosen or perhaps even destined to change the world
* Risk taker

Additionally

I am articulate and capable of communicating my ideas and plans in a way that encourage others with me.

I'm a careful spender, never overspending, carefully saving.

I understand what I want to accomplish.

I consider the moral/ethics behind every project, proposal, "deal", and relationship to be of the utmost importance and move forward only if standards of "good and honorable" are upheld.
