I would be hesitant to buy into one of these deals. Usually when a registrar is offering domains at this price there are catches involved. For example, I bought a domain a few years back for $2, but it turned out I didn't own it. I was just "renting" it from the registrar who actually owned it (according to their TOS). Be sure to read the fine print!

I didn't look but I wouldn't be surprised if it was something like this. dot com domain names for 99cents is outrageously low compared to the normal reg rates.
