About 2 months ago, some Guy used his mothers credit card to purchase a program from me. needles to say when his mother found out, she initiated a charge back. I supplied Google with all the necessary proof needed to fight the case. They found it in my favor. yesterday I get an e-mail saying they found it in this kids mom favor, when I E-mailed them back they said they had no prior knowledge of them finding it in my favor. and they were the ones that added that ruling in my account and said the matter was closed. so they wanted me to pay for the 60 bucks plus a $10 Charge back fee.

This is worrying since for my new e-commerce site I have google checkout as a preferred payment method.

Will you be taking this further or settling the $70 fee?

The fact of the matter is....the kid apparently did not have his mother's authorization to purchase anything.

The credit card owner has all power when it comes to unauthorized use of their card.

I'm sorry but.....This isn't a problem with Google checkout.

That's completely understandable however the problem with google checkout is mis-informing its users and then going back on their word. It's a bit misleading.

Credit card processors do that all the time. They go back and forth as they gather all the data. Once the details are fully disclosed and the customer "credit card owner" has signed an affadavit that the charge was unauthorized, the credit card processor must error on the side of the CC owner.
