Hello!

I am trying to figure out which Laptop to buy from amazon (since got a few gift certficates there)

1. Apple?
2. Hp?

I love the UI and hype behind apple. Is it worth switching from windows now? Can use all the software on a mac laptop.. eg: Dreamweaver or Ulead or any other.

Else Any good HP model you guys can recommend?

Thanks!

I guess an HP would be best. I would purchase an HP if I were you. You can use any software you want on an Apple... but, what's the real advantage except the news and the "Apple hype"?

I have a Dell Inspiron and love it, but it depends on what you will use the laptop for. A MacBook Pro is really nice, especially with the new Leopard coming out. But I really like Vista so far, which I'm happy with. I'd check out a Dell if you're still shopping.

I'd go for the apple but only the mac pro if you can justify the extra cost to yourself. I switched from windows a few years ago to mac and can't see myself going back. It's nice after 10 years of Windows to work on a different operating system and OS X Tiger is really nice, very reliable and now that Apple runs on Intel you can always have a virtual machine to run windows in anyway if you need it.

If I was buying a laptop I would want a Macbook Pro. I'm not a big HP fan. If I didn't get an apple then I'd probably go for a dell or sony.

Do not discount the Toshiba line.

I have used one for about 2.5 years and have had absolutely no problems with it at all.

I bought it off the shelf at OfficeDepot.

I found the price of the Toshiba to be extremely reasonable compared to Sony and Dell.

doood please stay away from ACER, and DELL, you will cry in the corner if you buy any of these brands and pay dearly....my friend works for repair shop and has these in all the time....its not worth the effort

anyone who gets a "dell" should be shot in the head...they are nothing more than worthless junk ready for the rubbish tip.

I have no probs with a mac notebook but you must realise that they are the ghostown of computers....like 5% of all computers are macs...sorry to rant, but they just dont cut it....but are good for graphics and making video.

Hope this helps.

You should not buy a computer because they are cheap, you will learn the hard way. You need to go for quality and price.
