Hey!
I'm just wondering what people think of websites based around a TV series? There are a few shows that I am into enough to create a fansite for, but I have a few doubts. Firstly, there's those pesky "everytvshowintheworld.com" all-encompassing sites such as tv.com and even imdb.com to a certain extent. Do these really take traffic from fansites, or is the specialised content I could provide going to put me above them? Also, I don't imagine that AdSense works well on these sites, and I'm having trouble thinking of other ways to monetise, except the obvious Amazon affiliate for boxsets. While I don't want people to give away their secrets, a few hints from people who have done this before would be nice.
The two shows I'm probably going to focus on have just the right amount of interest - they're fairly popular, but just small enough to be under the radar of everyone else it seems, as I can't find a dedicated fan site for either of them. However, the producer of one has a fairly decent website, which may be a problem.
Finally (I promise!) the two shows have one thing in common - they are both nearing the tail-end of the current series (one just finished, in fact). This seems like a good thing to me, as people that were really into it will be wanting more until the new series begins. However, this is quite some time away (next year) - should I be holding off on creating the site until closer to this time?
Thanks for reading another monster of an "advice wanted" thread by Spizz.
