i forgot windows xp password.....i have very important data in that computer....i am not get the solution for this...please can anyone help me in this,,,,,i have searced in the net and downloaded the "active password changer" software.....i installed this in my computer...it is showing the user accounts but when i am trying to reset the password...it is asking me to buy that software........can anyone show me the solution...please... i have very important data in that computer.if possible u can mail me on [ santu78j | at | indiatimes.com.......tHANK YOU BYE :clover:

The video Phil supplied here is probably efficient, but I know of a way as well (may be the same as on that video)

Reboot your computer, keep pressing F8 until you get a bunch of options.
Start Windows in Safe Mode, you shouldn't have to enter a password to get in.
Go into your Users and change your password, hopefully it works

If not, you could always copy all your important files to a safe place and reinstall windows.

you must use emergency mode and get change the passord there

1. Reboot your machine.
2. Press F8 before the Windows boot screen appears.
* Do not press F5 as used on the NT/9x series of Windows.
3. You will be be prompted with a boot options menu.
4. Select the Start Windows in Safe Mode option.
5. Click through several self-explanatory screens until your reach the familiar 'Welcome' screen.
6. Note that this welcome screen is limited to 256 colors and 640x480 resolution because the primary graphics will have been set to the Windows Safe Mode software VGA adapter. You will not be able to change this mode even in Display options, while Windows is running in Safe Mode.
7. Find the icon for the Administrator user. If the default settings of your system haven't been changed, there should be no password for this account.
* The Safe Mode Welcome screen might display some of the other users on your system.
8. Login as the admin.
9. Press Yes at the prompt asking if you would like to continue using Safe Mode.
10. Continue on to the User Settings control panel. Here you can change any of the other passwords for user on the machine. Make any changes you want.
11. Reboot your computer. As long as you don't press any keys (i.e. F8) during the boot-up the computer will startup normally.
12. Login as the user for which you set the password.

Long time ago , I confronted with the similar problem.

Many people forgot their admin password, and there is a popular solution for those who have been locked out of computer, as following

1. Log onto a second computer linked to Internet.
2. Login http://www.passwordunlocker.com and free download windows password unlocker (you can also login to other related sites for other reset tool,and windows password unlocker is a popular selection). Note that there is
a .ISO file included.
3. Burn the .ISO file onto a blank CD.you already have such as Nero, Sonic,Roxio etc. If you need burning software we provide one of the best solutions
on the market called BurnCDCC. which is free supported on passwordunlocker.com.
4.Insert the newly created CD into locked computer, and reboot from CD drive,then just follow the process of instruction. A few steps later, admin password
would be cleared

The default password for Windows is v;uk.aerl;aksvsl;k

^ sorry that's from the frustration of banging on your keyboard after numerous tries and still can't get the password right.
