Thanks to everyone that has helped me.
And thanks to all of you that have hired me to do freelance work on your websites.
I do not agree with the policy changes this forum has made, so I'm moving on...
I will finish all work that I have been hired to do.
I can still be reached by my email...
Take care guys.

Robert, I had to search your posts to see what your disagreement with the changes were since you didn't post that here.
I'm sorry that you feel the merge has made WT more commercial. That wasn't the intention and I didn't percieve it in that manner at all. The merge added more members, more features and more content to WT. While it is true that the marketplace portion of the forums are becoming a bit more seperated I don't see how they are becoming more commercial. Please explain your view so that I can better understand what has upset you.

Sorry to hear you're unhappy with the changes, but I don't think the forum has become completely commercial. I think anyone with a legitimate offer to post will be willing to pay the few dollars it will now cost. But requiring those few dollars will keep the scam offers away.
The new Marketplace should really help to keep spam out and keep legit offers in. If anything it should improve the quality of what's being sold.

To be honest, I don't like the new marketplace. Simply because theres only been one post in the last 5 days. Whereas here it was 4+ posts per day.
Although if it becomes more active then it'll be better

I think that's just because people are still adjusting to the new layout of things and many advertisers only come here once a week or whatever so haven't seen that its changed yet.
Webmaster-Talk has become a bit more commercial, but I think the new expertise and benefits that Earners Forum brings outweighs this by quite a long way. Overall, I feel the merge has been a good thing and will make this place more lively and broaden all of our horizons

Just curious, but do you think the forum is going commercial simply by requiring people to pay a few dollars to post to the marketplace? Nothing else has really changed outside of that section. There have always been ads on the site and it does cost money to run. It's always been a commercial entity.
With the marketplace before when people could freely post new items for sale I thought the majority of items there were pretty spammy. Just my opinion and it's not meant to imply that anyone who posted was posting spam, but there was a lot of junk in there.
I think requiring people to pay a few dollars should clean out much of the spam. Someone who's only wanting to rip you off isn't likely to pay to post their ad, but someone who has a legitimate offer likely will. I would think you'll eventually see more quality in the marketplace because of the small fee to list.
Only time will tell of course.
As far as there not being a lot there right now I think Dan is right that we're all still adjusting to the changes. I still haven't had a chance to check out everything new here and I know we're still working behind the scenes to fix bugs. Give the system a couple of weeks to settle. I think once it does you'll find the marketplace more active.
I'm happy with the merge too. We now have a lot of new members with different experiences and knowledge. For example the new Making Money Now forums. We've always had some talk about AdSense here, but little more and quite frankly most of the discussion of AdSense wasn't exactly enlightening. We now have a whole group of people here who know a lot more about affiliate programs and monetization and I think that's going to be a great thing for us.
Dan is right about the merge broadening all of our horizons.

I'm kinda half and half with him too. I joined originally because it had a friendlier feel than SP and DP. I still think it's a great resource though, and probably the webmaster forum I'll stick to.

When you say pay a few dollars to post. Does this mean when people want their website down, they pay a few dollars to post? Or just to advertise your services?
Because the spam / junk in the old marketplace was mainly people offering their web design services.

I posted right as you posted this . I hadn't found out about the marketplace changes as of yet, but I think it's a great idea. It cuts out a FEW of the little guys, but the spam as well. I love the additions that came from emonetized though, especially the monetize section.

Gilligan I'm not sure what you mean by when people want their websites down.
I believe all the old marketplace forums will be merged into the new marketplace so the advertise your services should require a few dollars to post. I'm saying a few dollars by the way since I'm not actually sure what everything costs yet. I'm still getting used to the changes along with everyone else.
It's not just the services though where there was spam. People posted contests in the graphic design forum and then never followed through with picking a winner. A few people ended up stealing images that other members created as part of the contest. Charging someone to post a contest should prevent most of that. People who are honest and have the intention of paying the contest winner shouldn't mind a few extra dollars. People who are posting looking to steal a logo will mind and will likely not post. That should help protect some of our members.
Same thing for anyone posting domains, sites for sale, etc. There have been cases of people selling content, sites, and domains they didn't own. Even a small fee should stop them.
The one group that this may hurt are the people looking to sell something for a very small amount. You probably wouldn't pay $5 to sell something for $20. I'm not sure if that will be an issue and if it is what the solution will be. But overall I think we should see more quality in the marketplace.
Funny Cody. I've done that myself many times. The few little guys getting cut off is a loss, but I agree it should cut down on the spam. I like the additions too. Monetization is something we really haven't had great discussions about since it hasn't been the expertise of most WT members. I'm looking forward to going through those forums and learning more.

Woops, sorry.
*websites done
spelling mistake
What I mean is, when someone used to post in the 'freelance web design jobs' forum. Will that cost money for them in the new marketplace.

Oh done, now I understand.
I think so. I'm not 100% sure of how it's all going to end up looking, but I think the intention is to move everything from the old marketplace into the new one.
No one should ever have been offering their services in those forums, though I know a lot of people did. I always deleted those posts when I saw them, but I'm sure some got past me.
The services marketplace were meant only for people looking to hire. And again I think the small fee will help. The people who tried to advertise their services aren't going to pay anything to post. People looking to hire someone should still be willing to pay the few dollars.
I know the new marketplace isn't the perfect solution, but I do think it will help keep much of the spam out. I'm sure there will be some legit posts we won't see anymore, but overall I think it will lead to an improved marketplace.

Okay thanks, I see there's a page in the marketplace explaining how many credits you need to post in the specific categories.
Thanks vangogh
