I have the worst luck with paypal...I swear. Twice so far they have "verified" my account for "suspicious" activity. Seems to be any time I sell something on eBay for over $100. It sucks because all my subscription payments get put on hold until they "verify".

This time I sold my car on eBay two weeks ago. I submitted all the info they requested the next day. I called them a week later to ask them wtf and they said the item had to be delivered before they would lift the hold, which the buyer (who lives in Canada) isn't doing until NEXT week. So now I have a paypal account with $xxxx in it that I can't touch. I'm pissed

I think paypal is great, easy way to accept payments. Only bad thing about them is there customer support, take ages to reply, and when they do, its nothing to do with what you said. Then when you reply back, you get a different representative replying back saying the same thing as the first person

PayPal are nice and easy to use for small to medium size payments, but obviously large payments can cause problems.

One of my customers had his credit card stolen and then they automatically emailed me asking to justify why he had sent me £4 a few days before - it was in the realms of the ridiculous really!

I hate paypal too.. they ask too much info. which is not needed to delay your transactions.. grr

The only problem I've had with paypal has to do with non-profits. My own paypal account I've never had a problem with. I've had it for at least 5 years and sold lots on Ebay a few things in the 4 digit range without a problem. My only problem has been when I've worked with them for non-profits. They will not budge on their percentages and that really sucks when you charge $5 for a spaghetti dinner, it costs $3.75 to make it, and paypal takes $.75. You get $.50 toward the actual cause you are raising money for. When I have done Crop Walk the last 2 years and taken donation through paypal I have made up the difference myself. That cost me a bit of money since WT members donated around $275.

I haven't had any problems and definitely prefer to use it over my debit card (which my account is linked to, but its much more secure). Sorry to hear about your problems.

The only problem I've had with paypal was when I got funds from someone who apparently was using a phished account. That sucks since I lost several hundred dollars worth of goods.

I hate their fees, but Paypal is very convenient.

I've been using paypal for years and still hate it. I've been scammed for over 800 euro of stuff and although there is supposed to be 'protection' there isn't! By the time you go through the waiting period to see if it can be 'worked out' the scammer has the cash in his hand and is GONE! It doesn't matter if they had a good rating before, there will be a point that they just say 'cya' and disappear with your cash. They don't care about their rating because they can open a new account at any time. Multiple accounts and multiple scams make NaughtyGirl a sad sad girl. They haven't stopped though, and won't. You know it, I know it, but Paypal doesn't seem to want to do anything about it.

I've tried to get physical names and addresses from Paypal so I can go after my money in court. They refuse to give it though because of 'personal privacy protection' rules.

So Paypal is on the side of the scammers. I don't see how they stay in business doing that, and yet I still use them anyway.

I've used Paypal for years, never had any problems at all. Recently I had some issues with people buying with stolen credit cards and chargebacks requests were made, they were all sorted with no fuss at all.

honestly i do like PayPal infact i want to know if Google AdSense pays via PayPAl i wish it does ...anyone any idea?

PAyPAl has been safe and good so far.

I don't agree either. There are other pay systems, but I've had the best service with PayPal of all the ones that I've tried.

I am like blue dreamer, I got the same issues and they were very responsive, polite and helpful.

I have to say that I don't process big amounts like the sale of a car. It might just be that for big amounts, especially if you are not usually using your account this way, they prefer to be careful that sorry and I fully understand that.

If your not fully verified then you will keep having problems I know the UK one only allows you £1,700 in transfers, if your not fully verified they think your money laundering or working a fiddle.
I my self have had no problem and think it’s a very secure way of paying.

I'm an international user here and I am not the biggest fan of PayPal. However, it is probably the most commonly used payment system online and also it is very easy to use. Thus, from a small dealer's perspective, it is a solid, although its security can be questioned, merchant medium.

With big stuff, if you have even a slightest business experience, you will know that escrow is the way to go.

Wow, didn't expect all the response! First of all, I have a premier business account and my account is fully verified (doubly now I suppose!). It is unfortunate PayPal does have such a monopoly, or I wouldn't use it nearly as much. The fees are pretty stiff for online transactions.

I really like them most of the time, but it's crap like this and their slow response that always tips me over the edge.

I have not really had any big problems with paypal... yet. But their fees can be pretty annoying. :\ Does anyone use moneybookers? I heard that it's also a pretty popular site that lets you send payments..?
