Right below the blue header to the right is "User CP" which lists replies to threads you have subscribed to. After you click Use CP there is an Edit Options on the left where you can set your subscription options.
Next to User CP is Private Messages. If someone sent you a message it will have a count next to it indicating the number of messages you haven't read.
