Google, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, and so on..

ICQ was the standard in my last industry, but nowadays I'm having to use programs like Trillian, Meebo, and Pidgin that combine them all since people are all over the place with chat programs.

I use Pidgin, but my main screen name is on AIM. I don't really think that using any one service is appropriate anymore when so many great aggregate chat programs exist.

I use Skype solely for business. I can voice, text, conference, whiteboard and send files.

Thanks for the replies so far guys.. I already have Pidgin but I'll definitely look into Skype, I thought it was a voip that you had to pay to use? Didn't know it could also be used as an IM program.

Oh man, I'm inundated.

I use Skype occasionally and MSN even less frequently.

More and more of my friends are using Google Talk, and I use Pidgin to manage my contacts (on AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, etc.)

But my "personal" name is tied to AIM so that's the one I use most. I have 4 different clients open at any given time, though! Not the best use of my system resources, but it works for me.
