Just been having a look at some random sites using the web archive way back machine and was suprosed to se digitalpoint.com is IDENTICAL almost to how it was 10 years ago!! (the earliest arhive avalible)

i mean COME ON! why?

Shawn has never tried to change both the homepage and the forum style and design.. And he has never disclosed the reason why.

haha, I've always wondered the same thing. I guess it's just that you need to find the forums and not go to the homepage. He could totally monetize the front page though!

o btw the forum was originally set up with PHPbb

then it changed after only a month.

Makes sense. PHPbb is loaded with vulnerabilities and vbulletin is a little more secure

Yeah, and in my opinion, that design is AWFUL. Half the screen is wasted on the right side.

I wonder, why keep it a big secret? Is there something behind it that could damage the company, in his eyes? Or is it just a clever marketing ploy, causing us to *think* there's some big secret, thus generating more buzz?

well I like the way this forum is done, cause I think you can get clicks here..DP is really old..but has much more traffic than here

That's what we are still thinking and creating buzz about the old design! lol

Traffic isnt everything.

the guy probably earns more than the guys here, but the mods and admins on here a top notch usually they dont allow the rubbish on here.

I said it before and i wills ay it again i would love to get Admin on DP so i could turn it arround.

I never understood why a forum *that* large only has about 20 mods.

Maybe he has added so many things to the forum .. plugins and whatnot, that changing the style would result in a long process of re-installing everything.

Changes were made in the interface of the forums, and not the homepage.
Atleast the homepage should have been made into a more decent one lol.

sometimes people were born into the "old" and cannot change. It is just like our parents, they don't get our methods of doing, so it is for DP boss, he won't change anything.

Maybe he just died in like 2000 and the hosting is a automatic DD and his remains are molding away in a grubby bed site in the states?
