It does kind of bring up another question though. Should regular members like us be allowed to know who gets banned and / or why it happened?

On the one hand some have been solid contributors to WT and have made quite a few friends getting to know one another; so it's kind of unfair to just see a member disappear like he did.

On the other hand, what exactly went down are private matters between the banned members and the WT staff, and it's not really are place to intrude on what's going on personally.

If the WT Staff or the banned member (in this case, fastreplies) doesn't want people to know why, then I think we should respect his decision to keep things out of the public eye.

Without going into too much detail - he just would not follow the rules - even after repeated warnings.

AGAIN - specific reasons are not going to be given.

It was not one single event. It was not one specific day. Rules were broken, multiple times. It was not the decision of a single moderator, it occurred as a result of multiple infractions given by different mods at different times.

Everyone please stop asking for details. You're not going to get them. If people keep asking for details I'll close the thread.

James brings up some interesting questions, though. I think it's fair that a banned member shows as banned under their username. I don't see where it cause an issue. I don't think the details need to be aired in public, mostly because the banned person clearly wouldn't be able to defend himself in the thread. It could quickly turn into a bash the banned guy thread, which isn't right.

I don't have a problem personally with people knowing why a member isn't here anymore. There's no secret thing going on where we need to maintain privacy. In this particular case even though fastreplies has been banned I don't think it's fair to him to post what would inevitably be a one-sided view of the events.

As far as a person being here one minute and gone the next, there's not really much that can be done about it. If people continue to break the rules they're going to get banned. Mods here will probably be a little slower to pull the trigger on a member who's been part of the community for a long time, but it doesn't matter how respected you are if you continue to break the forum rules.
