Mmmmm…dreaming…..
dreaming is what happens when the inter dimensional ports open and you move into another dimension - the reason many people can not remember dreams is that they are often voluntary wiped from the memory to avoid a problem known as 'mind slip', 'mind slip' is what occurs when your conscious mind tries to distinguish between this reality and the other - many insane people suffer form this....
Or it could be the minds way of subconsciously sorting, filtering and making sense of all the data, information, fears, likes, dislikes gathered throughout your waking hours so you don’t go off the rails with a ‘system overload’

I remember reading that you have hundreds of dreams in one night, and that a full "story" may last only 2-3 seconds. Have you noticed that you never finish your dreams, but rather you wake up in the middle of them? Again, this is because you only remember the last dream you have, which happens in the last few seconds of your sleep.

I don't really think I like the idea of dreams, though I do have one every night... See, there are times that I enjoy a certain dream, honestly there are certain dreams that are almost real. And I definitely hate waking up from those sort of dreams (they ain't wet dream), so at times I end up waking myself up and not sleeping again to not to get back to that dream or I wake up searching for that dream, hoping that it would be real, but it just brings sadness. BTW my craziest dream was that "the girl" (the one girl guys would never forget or something) was in love with me... Pretty crazy

Dreams are random electrical "firings" in your brain, often reflecting deep concious thoughts but even more often totally random and meaningless. It is an unloading/processing. I often awake with a good idea if I had been struggling the night before or If I practice piano, after sleeping it comes faster.
A few nights ago I dreamed that I had a pet cow that acted more like a dog.

Dreams come naturally and unexpected... We just can't predict when will it happen.

Sometimes I fell like I can control them. During my dream, sometimes and most of it what I feel or what I like to happen next or what I fear would happen next just happens...

I never remember my dreams but I know I have them.
I had an odd day last week when I had a chance to sleep in. I kept waking up every 5-10 mins over the course of an hour or more, and each 5-10 min period of sleep I'd enter REM and start dreaming, and it was a completely different dream each time, and several of them were real enough to disorient me into not being able to keep track of what was real or not, it was a very bizarre experience being in that many realities over such a short period of time.

I never remember my dreams, maybe once in a month or so. Even then I forget a few hours later, the dream is usually terrible anyway

I was in a "dream" study when I was in college. According to the researchers, there's lots of myths about dreams (some already stated).
I think just about everyone agrees that there are electrical or chemical activities in the brain that is the cause of dreams. But many don't agree on the meanings or interpretations of them, or even if there are any, and many don't agree whether there is a biological purpose or not. Too many dreams can be a function of sleep apnea.
But then again, what if this forum and everyone in it is an elaborate dream of someone else.
My last dreaming this morning was telling a guy that got fired where I used to work why he couldn't have his job back.
***hums all I have to do is dream***

A psychology view which is quite interesting is this:
Sleep is the gateway to life, and the life you live is a dream from another life (some say afterlife), which can be seen briefly within dreams. This life cannot be entered. The only way to enter this life is from death, which is considered eternal sleep.
