I need a little help. I'm creating a user interface for a CMS and I'm considering using a dock/fisheye element as a part of it (if you don't know what that effect is, click here for a demo). However, I'm not sure if it is as good of an idea as I first thought. If you're a Mac user, do you like the dock? Do you turn the magnification off? If you're not a Mac user, what do you think of the effect?

I like the effect, but have seen it overused in some situations. Overall, most of the places that I have seen it, I thought it was appropriate. For example, I saw it on a portfolio of web site designs and it seemed well used. I've also seen it used for viewing pic and graphics, and that seems to fit. I saw it overused on a book site, where there were rows and rows of them.

I don't know if a navigation for a CMS would be all that great, but it might be determined on what the site is about.

So that's a resounding "maybe".

Dave

Thanks Dave. I should clarify, it would be navigation for the administration of a CMS and so the site could really be about anything.

All right, thanks guys. This was probably one of the shorter polls you'll see. After reading around and thinking through it, I've decided against using the fisheye effect.
