I think we definitely need a forum topic on this forum dedicated to Open Source. There is already so much conversation going on inside many threads each day on this forum about open source php scripts, web applications etc. What does everybody think about having a topic dedicated to Open Source? Sound off.

This is primarily a webmaster forum, so PHP and web applications, open source or not, do belong here. Open source desktop applications, unless closely allied with web design needs, would be in the scope of WMT's sister forum at The New Tech

I actually didn't mean for open source desktop applications, but for open source web applications. There are so many out there! Content management systems alone could create thousands of threads

I think those fit pretty well under the coding forums we have here. I don't think the question of whether the code is opened to the public or not is very important in wanting to have a question answered, or am I missing something?
