its pretty much impossible to shut off the internet. It was initially designed to be shut-off proof by making so many different access points it originates from.

That's not true. I would say following the collapse of the Roman empire, Europe lost a significant amount of knowledge and technology, some of which it only regained following the renaissance.

All modern CPUs and a lot of other hardware is susceptible to electromagnetic interference, so an EMP bomb could take out virtually every modern computer in the area. That's not just computers - almost all modern technology would be affected!

Let's just hope terrorists don't manufacture one of these and use it!

That's precisely what I mean...Thanks for bringing that one up Whym. And I believe the (EMP Bomb) is quite possible to make AND detonate given the amount of information available in the world.
