Who is your ISP?

Is it comcastic? I'm getting sick of them, myself. I know Qwest (or was it Verizon?) is building out fiber optic lines, and that there are plenty of other choices.
Who connects you to the internet, and would you recommend them?

My personal provider is telus and they are really good because:
-they came and gave us a new modem when the old one wasn't working properly.
- they haven't charged us in almost a year now, even though we called them twice to let them know
- they sent us a letter last month saying that the bill format will change (bill - what bill?) and a current balance on our account: they owed us $137
can anyone beat that?

I have Qwest. My options were really them or Comcast. I can't say I'd recommend Qwest, though. My connection often seems to be less than it should be and I get disconnected from the wireless for no reason at all. I won't say it's bad service, but I feel like I should be getting better.

I wish Telus offered service down south!
VG, do mean you aren't getting what you pay for when you have to make a call, or with your bandwidth itself?

I'm on Sky Broadband and cant complain, I know it will be different for those in the US but over here there aren't that many 'good' packages. I used to have BT broadband which was a nightmare, constantly going down, slow etc. Since we moved to Sky BB we have not really had any problems. Speed is good and in the unlikely event we do have to phone support (once since we have had it) they were very helpful.

John the calls are fine. I have no problem with the phone services.
My bandwidth often drops to very little and sometimes my connection just gets dropped. Being completely dropped doesn't happen often, but when it does it could be an hour before I'm really back online.
I think the issue is the router they send (this is just a wireless issue) and my computer not being assigned an IP after being dropped. It's not my laptop since I can connect to my neighbor's network when I can't connect to my own. I was told by Qwest that the boxes they send need to be replaced every so often, but naturally they charge you for a new box.
Last year I did buy a new one from them since my box was about 5 years old. The box I'm using now is about a year old and already showing similar problems. I'm not about to buy a new box from them every year when they should either make them to last longer or supply them for free so I'll pay the monthly fee.
I've seen a few survey/reviews in magazines and Qwest usually comes out very low on the list.

I had the exact same problem with Telus. It came from the modem. They changed it (for free). That was a few months ago and it has been working fine now.

Oh, I use AT&T, I'm sorry to say. Not only so they have too many subscribers for their bandwidth, my broadband goes out every time it rains. I've called them several times about that, and they do two things about it, one of them being Jack. So I'm ISP shopping. Did you get that I don't recommend them?

Hello,
Lately I've been hearing alot of bad reviews about comcast and their bandwidth issue. I know some datacenters that go throught them and are seeing a huge impact on the amount of clients leaving. I personally just have my internet "ISP" with the local telephone company. I live in BFE Iowa and thats pretty much what you get where I live.

I have Time Warner at home & a T1 through Verizon at work. It is Verizon that is putting in the fiber optic lines and a FIOS connection is available here - but I'm just too laze to change so far

Julien sounds like we had the exact same problem. Last year when I did buy the new modem everything worked perfectly, but in the last few weeks the dropping has started again. I think it's ridiculous to be charged every year for a new dsl modem.

It is indeed (the same problem and ridiculous to charge for a new modem every year)
I used to work from home when that happened (pretty much 3/4 times a week) and it pis**d me off!
So I had to play age of empire III, waiting for the connection to come back

That's exactly where I am. One if these days when it gets a little worse I'll call Qwest and let them know they either need to send me a new modem for free or I'll be canceling both my dsl and phone.

I am from Kerala state of India country. My ISP is Asianet Dataline. It is the one of the best ISP's in India. It provides a full range of high quality services to the home and business user, from the latest in high speed cable broadband internet access and allied services such as VPN, VoIP, Dialup Internet, Web Hosting & Website Development. It has a total internet bandwidth capacity of more than 200mbps, which is the largest in the state of Kerala, among the new generation private ISPs.
