I'd get Dell over Sony any day of the week. Sony seems cooler, but tend to break sooner, at least in my experience. Dell isn't great, either, but less bad than Sony.

Hello,

I would go with Dell hands down. I know from my own personal experience with Dell they stand behind their products. On my old laptop I had 2 motherboards, 2 batteries and 1 hard drive go bacd in a years time span. You can just about imagine at this point I was pretty upset with Dell. Then a manager called me and noticed all the replacement parts I've had over that year time span. He told me they would be sending me out a new laptop and I had to send my old one back. I was pretty happy about that - a new free laptop. It was at least a $1,500.00 laptop when I priced it on Dells website about a year ago. My first laptop cost maybe $900.00. I hope my experience has helped you in your decision making process.

they all have their problems..

if your buying new.. a few words of advise..
DO NOT buy the cheapest model.. or the second cheapest..
(cheap laptops are made with cheap parts and cheap labor)..
COUGHdell.. dellCOUGH..

secondly.. read at least 5 reviews.. maybe 10.. (and not jsut the ones that show up
on page 1 of the search.. find what other people think about any particular model..

thirdly.. buy the warranty.. 9 times out of 10... its worth it..
COUGHdell..

<--runs a small computer repair business.. and if it wasnt for Dell.. I would
lose half my customers.. :-D so I do, in a way.. like dell.. :-p

always good to buy a used one.. its been though its paces and its broken in..
<can save you a hell of alot of money too..

my biggest advise.. if you dont need a lappy.. dont buy one..
desktopsare so much cheaper and easier to work on..
(semi-universal parts and easy access)
most people buy a laptop and the thing never leaves the desk..
