OK, as I started writing this thread earlier, it seems like the interface's timing is all messed up. I can seem to type letters and words just fine, but I press the backspace key and it does nothing, or it's always delayed. Then I tried cutting and copying the text I just typed into the message box, but I can't even do that. (It's just whited out when I right click too, make the option impossible).

When I upgraded to firefox 3 and noticed other cursor issues too, like clicking on a web page's white space somewhere, and a cursor would appear out of nowhere, this still happens to me whenever I click there.

I was thinking it might also be a message posting problem too because it only seemed to happen when creating / replying to threads. I had to copy and paste this from notepad in order to get all the information transferred correctly!

(Update: now the first problems have seemed to go away for now, but this has happened to me before, like they would come back in the next day or two)

Has anyone else been experiencing other odd problems like this?

I've had some similar problems, but I think it may be my computer because I am having trouble in MS Office too

I haven't had any problems with FF3. Maybe if you try uninstalling and reinstalling it?

I did try that before too.

I'm not having the problems currently, this reply is going in fine. It seems like the problem only occurs on certain days (like once a week or something).

The errors were just really strange.

I was having kind of a long and stressful day when those problems came up too. And not being able to type and infor everyone of anything on top of it just pushed really me .

What are you using for antivirus/antispyware?

When was the last time you defragged your hard drive?

Are you opposed to ceremonial ritual mouse pointing?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

The problems came back today "right now". So I'm typing this up exactly as I'm experiencing it.

I first typed in a sentence or two. And then I wanted to go back and edit the first sentence. Turns out that the flashing cursor doesn't move with it, but where I clicked I could still delete the certain characters I needed to.

Then, I tried clicking again at a different section, only now the cursor moves with me, but when I press delete, nothing gets deleted, it's like nothing's happening.

It'll still let me highlight text but it won't let me cut or copy anything, so I had to write a few posts over again without ANY errors in notepad then paste it over into the threads I wanted to reply to. Right clicking doesn't even give me any options, they're all "grayed" out.

I don't know whether this is a FF issue, or just something on my computer causing this. As it happened on another forum I posted at too, but not surprisingly on my own forum though, everything's fine there. And I can't find any patterns in "when" or "where" this happens.

So either way, it is getting quite ridiculous....

I suppose I'll just type everything up in notepad first from now on (which is what I've always done for my really long posts anyway).

Also @Tim = I'm using Uniblue's Protection Package (aka, their Registry Cleaner, Spy Eraser, and Optimization Programs). I don't think I've ever defragged my hard drive, never had to, or known why it'd be necessary. Maybe once though like a few years ago, can't remember for sure.

Hmmmm. That's very strange. Sounds like when I upgraded to IE 8 beta.

Curious - do you have carat browsing on?

*checking*

It seems like it was on. I pressed F7 to see if it was running or not, and the first time I pressed it, nothing came up. The second time though, it asked me if I wanted to turn it on, and I said no this time.

I turned it on by accident, somehow, too, and it's the most annoying feature in the whole program!

Don't seem to be getting any errors anymore. Hopefully this will clear up the problem for now (at least until I update FF). Just updated it this morning, maybe it turned it on automatically or something via restarting and relaunching the application.

Anyway, thanks for the tip, John

I was having similar problems. I tried lots of things and FF would work fine for a day or two and then the problems would come back. I think I think the problem was a corrupted profile. What I did was create a new profile and then move things over from my old profile (bookmarks, passwords, history, etc) The problem with that though is that if one of those things was causing the corruption you just moved it to the new profile.

If the issue comes back reply again here and I'll walk you through a couple of things for creating the profile and moving things over to it.

I'm not sure I remember ever creating a "FF Profile" or anything, I just downloaded the browser, transferred the favorites over from IE, and started browsing. I didn't even know profiles were a "feature" of sorts.

But if the problems do come back, I'll update the thread. Haven't really noticed many other issues with FF other than this "typing and replying to threads" issues I've encountered.

Maybe the registry was screwed over? You did say that you were using a reg cleaner ... so that might've caused some problems with firefox?

The original profile is created by default and it's called the default profile. You can create additional profiles though. Sometimes the profile gets corrupted and no matter what else you do you end up with the same problems. It's not an automatic solution, but apparently a new profile does solve some issues with FF.
