I have recently become more involved with web related stuff beyond your typical search for baby bradgilina pics and email checking.

With this has come the need to rethink how i view the net. There are a hand full of popular browsers out there and they all claim to be the best. I havent tried them all and im not expert, but im starting to realize that the same old browser doesn't cut it for me and it is time to explore.

As im sure any web designer or dev will tell you you want to check your work in multiple browsers...this is why i origianlly strayed from IE6-7 to also include FF2 in my repritoir.

I personally liked IE7 more then FF2, i got used to the qucik access to bookmarks, and the new tab "tab"...goofy little things that arent natively in place in other browsers or not in the place id like them.

However Firefox has become ever more useful to me other then just a browser to test stuff in. Firefox is by far more customizable then IE7 and serves much more specific functions then simple browsing with simple addons.

So to this point i use IE7 for 90% of my browsing still, but when specific tasks call for the easy and abilities that a FF addon ads, i switch over.

I have tried Chrome (from google) and im not that happy with it. I wrote a review of it here. This was very preliminary.

I have since gotten FF3, some new addons, and im considering trying opera out soon as well.

The sad truth is i think that each major browser offers some special things, and until a browser brings all that together, im gonna probably be using 2-3 or more browsers on a regular basis.

But as the title say, currently my favorite is IE7...which may change, whats your favorite?

Currently it's Chrome! The simplicity of the browser along with the speed makes it hard to beat. I also really like the application shortcuts.

My favorite browser is Mozilla Firefox, but I am thinking of using Chrome, because it has so many new features.

Well i've now installed and used most of the major browsers.

I currently have;

IE7
FF3
Chrome
Opera
Safari

And...

I've changed my mind. My favorite browser is now Opera. I cannot say that univerally it is the fastest, but for me on my computer it is incredibly faster then all the other browsers i have listed above. Not only that it seems the closest to incorporating the features i like from all the other browsers into one package. Its got the simplicity that chrome has, ease of getting to bookmarks like IE, some addon capability like FF.

The only downside is that it plain and simply is not compatible with all sites. This doesnt happen that often, more typically on sites that deliver multimedia content specifically made for only one browser (IE or FF).

In order, id say this is my preference in browsers;

Opera
FF3
IE7

The rest i never use now. Safari was aweful, Chrome as far as i know still has alot of issues, primarily what i noted was with flash based sites.

I like speed dial in Opera, which isnt an exclusive feature...i like that it gives you that and bookmarks, and it makes bookmarks easy to get to.

The other downside to Opera is no google toolbar (i use highlight alot).

I have to say, the only reason i keep IE7 is bc its a standard and i have to. FF3 is a better browser in my opinion then IE7, its slightly faster and the addons just make it amazing.

Id say i do 70% of my browsing now in Opera, maybe 15-20% in FF3 and 10-15% in IE7.

If google Chrome really matures and adds all the features of the other browsers that i like then i may end up giving it another try, but i feel its not complete enough as is.

Having said that, its odd with browsers, the way people view them. Its almost like a car brand or a brand of cologne...people seem to have this unexplainble connection to brand.

I say forget that and try all the browsers you can and decide for yourself.

Yea i wasnt impressed with Chrome...great ideas but not implemented very well. Worst of all it handles flash content very poorly. At least last time i bothered using it, idk if they have updated it yet.

The perfect browser to me would be one that has the compatability of IE, the customizability of FF, the speed and layout of Opera.

Opera is still my favorite but i still need the others.

My brother was over yesterday and i told him how fast opera was, he didnt beleive me so i opened a page in IE that i had never been to, then i opened the same page in Opera, words of underance where along the lines of "holy ish" "Wow" "no way".

We did this many times over, in different order, open first in one browser then in the others. Trying Opera FF and IE. (notably imo in terms of speed its Opera > FF > IE).
