Hiya, Firstly, I hope I've posted this in the right section, I couldnt find another that this seemed to fit in.

My question is, are there any free website valuating services which provide accurate (as accurate is reasonably possible) I've checked several sites, and the results vary from just under $10,000 to just over $500. Quite a range I'm sure you'll agree

If you are selling your website, trust the higher results
If you are buying, trust the lower results

I believe the value of a website is very relative to what you want to do with it.

The answer is a very very resounding NO!!

These stupid "evaluation tools" are based on "data" such as "toolbar PR", "Alexa rank", backlink counts and other such totally useless information.

Like any business, a the monetary value of a website can only be calculated by looking at the tangible assets, not some vague maybes.

I'm a computer programmer, so I can speak to this pretty well. Esp the accurate part. Here are some of the ways you could implement this
  1. Write code to model throwing dice.
  2. Write code to measure how long it takes to make a call - say writing a file to disc - and use that number.
  3. Write code to ask the random number generator.
  4. Write more tricky code to count your backlinks, and assume each of them is worth $100, then multiply.
As you can see, it's entirely possible for a web site to provide a service that tells you a number. But no matter how that number is generated, the web site does not have the information it needs to make sure that number corresponds to what somebody will actually be willing to pay for a given web site.

I would just the use the yearly profit and multiply it by 3. Then include special things that you would think are necessary. For example, I would include the price of the actual website (Design and code).
