Yeah, it is very sad.

Having a multiple account is considered cheating even if you are not doing it because sometimes the MOD will think that you are using your other account to reply or to raised the view points of your thread.

I'm not too familiar with DP rules, however one is supposed to know that everything under 6 dollars goes in the freebies forum! To be honest - I haven't seen this rule anywhere! Even after reading a few of the stickies!

Now, today I just posted another promotional offer on DP - and suddenly BOOM I'm banned. Reason? Multiple accounts!

I could barely give myself the will to register one account with them! What kind of idiot would have two !!!!
Just get on a new proxy and deal with it.

How did you do that? DP doesn't let you edit posts after 48 hours.

I'd like to delete all 11,524 of my posts from there.

don't worry about reputation, man. here's something I wrote myself the other day (but never published anywhere... however it seems it's been called into existence by the Great Feline Schrodinger...)

Quote:
Publicity Oil Slicks

If you are not careful, perhaps due to some irrational desire to experiment in the most ill-advised ways, or perhaps due to some over-emotionality inappropriate for a publicity hustler, you will accidentally suffer a publicity oil slick on something of yours, perhaps even your own identity.

A basic internet oil spill is likely to not last more than 6 months, so it's not so bad, if you contain it quickly, removing yourself from anywhere that has become infected with sordid details such as the truth.

Of course if you are some kind of mogul and your name gets targeted by the international hippy press, you could find yourself with an infection spreading across many years and markets, in which case the natural public relations response would be to use that bad publicity as a medium for inspiring allegiance with anyone on the opposite spectrum of the public - i.e. if hippies hate you, sell to fascists, or vice versa.

The main thing to remember with any kind of publicity oil slick is: don't panic. Relax. You can deal with it somehow, and in the end nothing important to you will change, and in terms of profit, there's ALWAYS a way to just keep getting richer, to make every change work in your favour or so little in your disfavour relative to what's favourable that nothing matters, you could eat puppies live on television and they'd bury you in Westminster Abbey even if it meant digging up a monarch and having them put somewhere out of your way.
It seems to me that I never finished giving this thing the full point I wanted to make within it, which is this: you can just put out lots of GOOD public relations to counteract the bad p.r. - and to some extent try to make the bad p.r. into good p.r. (are there lots of people slagging off DP? well go find out where the anti-d.p. publicity is and tell them your story, the way you just did, and well - that's already a big counter attack).

I'm lucky that i've only ever been banned from political sites and once or twice a muslim site (but they let me back anyway, because i'm such a good pro-palestinian activist they need me, even when i tell them to their face that their religion is outmoded and foolish and no better than judaism or christianity).

Don't stress over it. These things annoy you for a few weeks and then you forget about em! I've had politics forum owners altering my words, deleting my posts, labelling me "unperson", doing all kinds of petty nasty crap to me, and in the end i barely think about it - although maybe since the peace activist i fell in love with might read politics boards, possibly, that could have helped make her think me a total idiot... but hey. it's a small loss. in the end, if you lose someone because they listen to hearsay, you never lost em - they were not interested in what you really are anyway.

just chill out and play my new game that i'm about to post.

I know political activistS (not just one) who use proxies, and various other tricks to have as many accounts as they want, and I really enjoy watching them at work. It fills my heart with warmth and I feel quite glad that forum moderators, when it REALLY comes down to it, are 100% powerless really.

Of course there ARE one or two forum mods I like! But really, in all the places I've been, I have to say, it's really only one or two! I think that it's a job that just turns people nasty and ugly... goes with the territory. I'd never be able to do it myself. I'm an anarchist at heart, so how could I police someone's "rules"? Anyway I NEVER read forum rules - I think it's an insult really... i mean when you are expected to read pages of rules and then not break them or be instantly killed. Reasonable places would/do inform you of something you didn't realise was wrong and give you a chance to make amends... otherwise i'd not have got past post 1 on webmaster-talk!

but back to those activists, i've known at least 2 anti-war people and 2 fascists to totally override the power of mods and forum owners by creating multiple personalities, perfect in every way, impossible to detect as fakes (unless, like me, someone "outside the authoritarian loop" keeps you informed... just goes to show, real power does NOT lie on the other side of the line of authority, it's out here with me, and the criminals and the hackers and the various dark-side jedis).

i've always found it amusing that forum owners are SOOO terrified of multiple accounts - it 100% reveals their biggest weakness. After all, user-count is the best way to judge a forum's worth - so tonnes of non-real users means it has a false sense of worth.

anyway. it's 7pm. if i was 10 years old, this would be when i'd be supposed to pray. i better sign out and go talk to god. gotta ask the lad about a few major things in my life.

Well, I figure this might be the right thread, though slightly off topic, but... why was ^HE^ banned?
