Hi everyone.

Firstly, I'm doing a sponsored walk to raise some funds for my youth group in town, and I'd really appreciate it if people would sponsor me - every little helps. The walk is 8 miles long, and it's being held to raise money for buying new equipment (instruments like bass guitar, and perhaps a projector). If you'd like to donate, please PM me and I'll send you my PayPal addy. Further info.

Secondly, I'm looking for some new ideas to help raise more. Projectors are pretty expensive - some are over £1000. While it would blow me away if we raised over £1000 from the walk (as a couple of others are taking part), I doubt it'll happen. We've had a few other ideas, like a car wash in our town, but other ideas would be really useful! The more creative, the better!

Thanks,
Dan

why not advertise for a company during your events and get a discount on a projector fee in return?
Are you selling anything at the walk? Snacks, granola bar, drinks...

Dog walking pays well.

What does your youth group is about? Why not set up some sport tournaments?
You can sell matches for a buck.

Anyway, those are just from the top of my head. If I can think of more, I'll come back and write again.

Good luck!

Hi Dan,

First - Good luck with your walk! PM me your paypal and I'll kick in a few dollars

I just did a Crop Walk yesterday and this year's total was the lowest ever. I ended up with $90 in sponsors & Kaity had $35. Nobody has had the money this year.

Okay, enough with the depressing parts. Some of the things we (my church Missions Committee) have done to raise money:

1) Have a lunch/dinner. This can be a simple meal of spaghetti or soup & sandwiches. Try to get people to donate the food to make the meal and all monies collected are profit.

2) We do have a car wash every year in June to help the kids go to summer camp. We have found that if you leave the cost up to the customer you end up making more money.

3) Have a family game night. Ask people to bring their favorite board game, provide some snacks and encourage people to play each other's games, play in different groups, etc. Charge a nominal fee for admission.

4) Hold a play or musical performance starring the the kids that the money will benefit.

5) Christmas is coming - have breakfast with Santa. We are in the process of planning our breakfast for this year. We will have pancakes, scrambled eggs, toast & sausage. The kids will get to sit on Santa's lap. One of our member is a professional school photographer and will take the pics, I will be there with a laptop offering prints for $3, cd for $3 or both for $5. Breakfast by is $2 a person. We are buying the food ourselves from a Restaurant Supply place.

I'm sure I have more for you, but this is a start

This is GENERAL discussions. He has every right to ask for sponsorship for a charity walk that is going to benefit an organization.

I would throw some money your way whym, but I currently don't have any.

I haven't updated this since the walk, but I wanted to get a rough idea how much has been raised before posting.

I believe the overall total for everyone that took part is now around £650 It's quite amazing actually. Thanks to everyone that donated! Hopefully, we will be purchasing a video projector sometime in the New Year.

Thanks again,
Dan
