Hello,
What is the last software you purchased? And I mean really purchased not downloading. For me it would be Nero 9 (worth every penny).

The platinum version is great because that will render up to 1900x1080 (Full HD). Just don't get the orange box if your really looking into making HD movies.

I reckon we bought Repton (for the acorn electron), and I'm quite sure we bought Elite second-hand, but still we bought it.
I can't think of any software since then I've actually bought. Most of it has come free with hardware packages, or been freeware. Or I just built it.
Repton was a bit rubbish, in retrospect, but Elite is excellent. I look forward to discovering a java version of it, one day. Or writing one, if I have to (but I'd need to talk to the original authors about the statistical data - it wouldn't be the same without the planets and prices all being true to the original).
I reckon I shall try and write a small rubbishy java game by new year... I'll even try and write it from the commandline, remotely, and compile it all within a linux environment... a good move for 2009. Once or twice I've used some small java applet, mostly built by me after taking someone else's software and completely rewiring it and slicing it up and putting it together the way I want. They've been really cool things - way cooler than any other form of communicational matter deployment has EVER been on any site I've made or even seen. java is the ultimate thing... typically flash videos, a bastardized form of media file, no better than arse-x (that's divx, bytheway), have become mainstream when all along java was 10,000 times more powerful than any of this surface level microsoft-fornicating rubbish.
Perhaps ubuntu will unwittingly open the door to a java revolution? Its own most "native" hardware seems to be in a minority, and it seems to have been left out of the centre stage despite being the most abundantly versatile and advanced technology we have on earth! even perl isn't as good as java. I'd gladly learn all the database crap that non-perlpeople have to live with, just to be able to build all my stuff in java. The best applets aren't even noticeable as applets - they don't have to be one huge rectangle... you can make teeny tiny java controls, java readouts, and more. You can make amazing stuff. The trick is to keep to simplicity - once you get too clever for your own space and time, umpteen versions and platforms will fail your software and it just won't run. You have to work only with what you know won't break in transit to other environments.
If ubuntu is not free, I'll probably buy it soon, by the way. That'll be the last software I purchased. But I expect it's 100% free. So it'll still be Repton.

Hello,
I'm a big fan of all Linux OS - more so Ubuntu then the rest. If it wasn't for the fact I work online and need certain programs I would switch over to Linux in a heard beat. And I don't think I'm the only one out there that's in the same situation. I'm shocked there hasn't been more products dealing soling with Ubuntu on the market.

Well yeah you can get alot of software for free but when your running a business its not ethical to have pirated software on your computer.

Now that I think about it, it's been years since I haven't bought a boxed software...
Last software I "buyed" was a license for Pydev, an eclipse plugin for the python language.
Probably one of the best 42$ I have spent in years...
But for a boxed soft, it was "dungeon keeper 2", I think..
Man, that's far... But just being able to kick your creatures to make them work faster, and to see your daemons dancing over " disco inferno"
Hmmm, and those "dark mistress", in their leather outfit...
I should still have this cd in my drawer.... Worth to look for it...

Neither could Tyler Durden, and then suddenly he woke up to what he had been doing...
