please help me out guys to grasp a possible reason behind hostgator's action
why would one of so called 'best hosting companies' paying for reviews?

It's not hostgator, it's an affiliate..

That user asking for the reviews is neither the President nor the CEO, so don't hold them against HostGator.

As has been correctly pointed out, that topic starter is not a HostGator employee, but rather, an affiliate or some other third party.

HostGator does not pay or otherwise compensate people to write reviews. We regularly monitor the various review sites, but the only official review resource that we control is our forums at http://forums.hostgator.com.
