I'm sure a lot of you are already aware, but for those of you who are not:

The Windows 7 beta is now open. You can download it and get your installation key here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...-download.aspx

There is a limited number of peope who can beta test so if you want to download it soon. The beta doesn't expire until August so you'll have plenty of time to test it out.

EDIT:
Due to demand Microsoft has removed the user limit, instead you have until January 24th to sign up for the beta.

I havn't had a chance to install it yet, but I hear that it is a huge improvment over vista. Performance wise the beta beats out vista and xp in a lot of cases. Keep in mind that this is just the beta.

Its free so its definitly worth trying out before you make up your mind.

Re-installing XP is a great improvement on Vista, so it's not much of a recommendation

I agree, which is why I have not migrated to vista (nor will I). Apparently however, this iteration of windows appears to actually be a step forward, rather than a pile of garbage. I'll give you some first hand feedback when I get a chance.

They should really give the people that tried the beta a free copy of the real.

I've never saw Windows 7 but I think it's not good version. I read that it's only not stable kind of Vista. And Microsoft have to spend more time to correct all issues.
