I'm installing it now, hoping nothing goes wrong and starts asking me to send error reports or gives me a big blue screen or something

I tried it out when it first went into beta. It worked fine for me. It seemed faster than IE7 and its much more compliant to standards. I'm so used to Opera, however, that I doubt I will ever switch back to IE. Even IE8 does not perform as well in benchmarks as the other major browsers, but its an improvement.

IE8 is awesome, not because I care to use it for my regular browser, but because its new Developer's Tools are almost as good as Firebug for Firefox. There's a couple of things it doesn't do as well, such as adding new CSS rules (you can change existing ones easily though). The JavaScript debugger is really hot too.
The cool thing is, all the tools still work when the browser is switched into IE7 mode, which as far as I can tell, is otherwise no different than the actual IE7.
IE8 also supports document.querySelectorAll(".any-css-rule"), which Firefox 3 has yet to do (though its in the beta, and will be released by Summer). In this sense, IE8 is actually ahead of Firefox in certain standards.
The IE8 engine is a lot faster, but it still doesn't compare to Chrome, or the new Firefox engine, though it hasn't been officially released. Safari 4 is smoking fast and more advanced also. Opera 10 is going to be really hot too, I hear. IE8 did some good things, but it will still be slightly behind once the new wave hits.

IE8 seems a big improvement on IE7, it doesn't freeze and crash so far, it loads much quicker and there is a compatibility view button for viewing websites that were designed for older browsers, which is a pretty neat idea.

Ugghhh.. dont get me started on Microsoft. I'm running the IE 8 beta on my laptop and has SEVERE painting issues. Sometimes it takes almost a minute to repaint a window that has nothing on it but the default Microsoft 404 page. You better have several gigs of ram in your machine because tabbed browsing will consume it all by the time you get your 7th tab open. All in all, it is a good standard bearer for Microsoft's quality of software development. Somewhere along the line when people quit trusting Microsoft with their ideas(Because they would out and out steal them), it became glaringly obvious Microsoft had none of their own.

To add an attribute, go to the CSS tab and right click where you want to add -- you'll have your menu. For an already-existing selector, you can also go to the last rule in the list and tab to have another, blank rule.

IE8 is by far and away more standards compliant - FINALLY! It should not require the kinds if hacks needed for its predecessors to make web sites display properly. It still has a few shortcomings, but it's still much better.

Hmmm... I think it's just you. Mine runs smoothly, sure it consumes a lot of resources, just like many other apps. Hey it's good for the economy in long run.
Why is it important that you have to make your own products when you have a business? Not business school will teach you that. It's just the reality, you either build it, or buy one that you can refine, then resell it, or you crush your competitor's products if you have enough money to kill the competition.
