Alex go to the link and scroll down to the third one on the left side of the page, CSE HTML Validator Lite v9.02, that's the free one. Mainly now, I use this software for spelling, sometimes I do check for coding errors. Although with the free software it won't tell you all the errors, they really want you to buy the software, which I can understand. This software also has the numbered lines.
With Notetab, that won't tell you anything about your coding, such as deprecated tags or any other coding errors, that's when one goes here to validate your web page, which will tell you exactly what your errors are and where:
http://validator.w3.org/
or here to their main page
http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp
I might add when you go to the Validator they will be using numbered lines if you have errors.

You might want to read that article, if you are using Firefox there is an addon:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/249
Personally I am using Firefox for a browser but as of yet I have not downloaded that addon and I am not sure I will, but that's my own personal opinion. The one thing I like about Notetab you can click on the button to view your page with your default browser to see what the page looks like.
