I was such an @$$. In about 7 or so months I will be leaving school and getting ready for college, where I am hopefully taking several design based AS level qualifications. Then, I hope to enter uni and get an MA in Web Design.

Been doing web design/development full time for 10 years next Feb which reading the age of a lot of posters here is making me feel really old!

Got a small team working under me now so seem to be caught up with admin rather than programming/design more and more these days but still wouldn't change it for anything.

I'm also a qualified chef - which is what I did before all this web malarky came along. Hope to never go back to doing that - it was way too hard work!

My bread and butter comes from a floor covering business I own, but I also do some computer repairs and building. I got into modding computers (customizing cases like some people customize cars) several years ago, which landed me in CPU Magazine once and was commissioned to do an article for their publisher (Sandhills). I've also written for floor covering and entertainment oriented trade magazines.

I'm happy to see there are some older folks here. I'm 56 and always feel like I'm the old guy on forums. We have a great mix of careers represented here. I see there are a few law enforcement types here too. I used to be involved in law enforcement -- I was the criminal. I'm a retired drug dealer (well, I sold a few ounces of pot to support my habit, which I haven't indulged in for over 20 years now).

It's nice to be here and "meet" all of you.

I'm a freelance graphic designer. Recent graduate of the Art Institute of Seattle. I'm trying to gain more skills in web design. There is a big market for it here in Alaska.

Finished University at Liverpool University in Computer Science 6 months ago and got hired straight away as a web programmer (PHP). Enjoy working only 40 hours a week compared to the 60 i did during summer holidays as a student.

I still find it interesting to read the professions that are listed. It's a great group of people here, and widely diverse! Thanks for answering!

I'm a support worker looking after teenagers with learning difficulties and challenging behaviour at a residential school. I also do all the IT support for the school and a few local businesses, plus I worked as an Internet Technician for my Local Isp a few years back.

Either:

a. I monitor the machines that make the tabs for soda cans to make sure they're of the highest quality and will not break and cut people's fingers open.

b. I am a buyer for junior's clothing at the corporate office for pacific sunwear (by the way I'm a guy).

c. I Clean glue, dirt and other gook (technical jargon term) off the stars on hollywood's walk of fame sidewalks.

One of these is true...the other two are simply dream jobs.
