Patrick Swayze, Dirty Dancing star, dies aged 57 http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle6834715.ece I'm actually more upset over the fact Patrick died then Michael Jackson.

I heard the news late this afternoon and was completely devastated, I really cared for Patrick Swayze. He was interviewed with his wife around holiday time and he looked great, I thought he had licked the cancer. What a shame, a fine actor and gentleman, very very sad!

I know exactly what you mean. He had really bad cancer and we knew it was a matter of time but still a shock.

Personally, it was a huge shock for me Pixel, because of that interview I had seen, thinking he was cancer free. As for "Dirty Dancing" yes the movie was great, for me the dancing and the music was just awesome, think I own most of his movies he made, plus the soundtrack cd from "Dirty Dancing," which I play quite often. But have a deep respect for Patrick not only as an actor but as a man, I pretty much have followed his career.

Very very sad, he sure fought long and hard, what a healthy attitude throughout the last 20 months of his illness.

Yeah, I was saddened by this news. Patrick Swayze was a great actor. I loved all of his movies. Dirty Dancing, Ghost, Roadhouse, Point Break, Red Dawn, etc all kicked A$$! Just finished watching Larry King Live and he had a segment about Patrick. Everybody he worked with had nothing but great things to say about him.

R.I.P. Patrick Swayze. You will be missed.

Yes, very sad. My heart goes out to his wife and loved ones. But, I also knew it was just a matter of time. He did not look good at all the last time I saw him. He was soooo thin and he looked tired. But what a hard worker he was doing that show while getting his chemo treatments. He was an incredible man besides being a fine actor. Very giving, he seemed like such a sweet guy.

Whoopie Goldberg did a tribute and talked about her friend & colleague on Tuesday's The View. She got all choked up several times through-out the show. Said she won her OSCAR because of him.

I was curious why he never had kids.... I think he would've been a great dad. He was very close to his own father who died somewhat young too. Not sure but I think I heard him say once in an interview - a very long time ago - he didn't want kids.

You know, one of his best roles was one unlike any other he's ever played -- as Vida Boheme in To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar.

Yes he was excellent in that movie. He said he really wanted to do something different and practically begged to play that part. It turned out he was the right one for the role!
