You are in the perfect gray area here...
It depends of the country where the server is physically located, as this is where the local legislation is applied.
In my country, for example, downloading copyrighted material over BT is legal.
But, if you share back even 1 byte, then you are in violation of the law.
Beside, BT in itself is nothing prohibited.
It's the sharing of data that are copyrighted through BT (or any other medium) that is at incriminated.
You don't rule out automobiles because they can help burglar to do a hold-up.
