Just curious if anyone here who operates a website has ever considered turning their website into a portable application of a sort? I don't *think* it would replace the online shopping experience, but if you were only accepting third party payments such as paypal, (or doing some sort of personal site or portfoliio) it might be a really good to think about because you can distribute the cd to people for job applications etc..etc..

What's your thought on that? Have you ever tried it? What's your experience with it? Waiting to hear from you guys.

I'm loving Server2Go. Mostly I use it for offline development and demos.

Are you running a CD replication operation Brian?

So people have to reorder and redistribute their CDs to correct a spelling error, change their prices, add a new product, delete a product etc etc.

I agree that CD distribution would be a waste, if not litering (see "AOL Disk Collecting); however, I find the ability to keep my web apps portable and separate from a specific host refreshing. I use flash drives, that way I can simply borrow or swap in order to patch/update.

While I find this method useful for personal use, a few friends, & family I see no merit to any commerical endeavor given the ease and availability of an internet connection. If they want to shop, they can simply lift their phone to eye level or pull the ol' lappy/netbook out of it's bag.
