Tomorrow is Thanks Giving, what are you thankful for?

I'm thankful for the people in this world who actually know what they're doing!

You're very welcome Giselle

Back in the UK we have the usual religious festivals - easter, xmas etc, plus laboiur day of course, but the coolest day is Guy Fawkes night, or Bonfire Night, as it's also known. On November 5th every year, it's a day of massive firework displays, bonfires, mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and a great atmosphere.

In Spain, there are dozens and dozens of holidays. There are national ones, all religious I believe, the main ones being Semana Santa and Palm Sunday I guess. HUGE parades, lots of drums, creepy religious outfits (the ones that look like the KKK) and a good party. There's also San Juan where you jump over fires on the beach (!!!) I forget the dates of these, there's so many of them! The main one in Spain is 3 Kings day, which is Jan 6th, and is essentially when we celebrate xmas over here - it's the big family day with all the presents. Xmas day here is just a normal day pretty much, bars and restaurants open etc.

It's a bit late to wish you a Happy and a Fun Guy Fawkes Night, but shall have to remember that for next year! On the 3 Kings Day, that one I do remember as a child growing up in a Catholic environment. I can't speak for the other religious organizations, but in the Catholic one, xmas was celebrated on the 25th, but you weren't suppose to take your Christmas Tree down until after the Epiphany in honor of the three kings. In those days there wasn't too much in artificial trees, everyone had fresh cut, so you can image by the 6th of January you had close to a huge twig, even with the watering of the tree.

I know what you are talking about with the KKK gowns, if I remember rightly it's has something to do with the Knight of Columbus.

Xmas for you in on the 3 Kings Day, ok!
