I have a question regarding the two operating system Linux vs. Windows in the workforce.

How many of you WORK for a company where you are required to know how to use linux in some form? I am excluding if you run your own business unless you have a large employee base that you require the use of linux.

The reason I ask this, is, for the past couple of years 'out of work' - full time - I have been really locked into the linux environment. I have been playing around with everything from the gui to shell scripts and want to know if the effort I put into linux would be an asset to some company. I always hear that Microsoft dominates the workforce, but linux definitely has it's advantages over windows, and I know there's got to be companies using them.

Let me know your thoughts

I decided to add a pole to this as I found it to be better than just replies to this topic.

It's not required, but it has been welcomed more than once...
Usually when you have to deal with customers who have not a windows based server.

Or when it comes to think outside of the "microsoft wizard" way to execute an administrative task on the servers.
