Hi,

I had an idea for a cool project I could do. Basically I would like to analyze some Tweets (from Twitter.com) and check if the people where talking about music. I started to think on how this could be implemented and also looked on Google and stuff but couldn't really find any hints.

Do you think something like this is even possible right now?

I'm not a big twitter guy, but I think you would basically be looking to either write or find a script which would look up existing hashtags and basically display them to you. I would imagine you would have to specify which tags you want to follow.

Yes that's one thing I thought about. Hashtags like #musicmonday (where people make recommendations to others). Another thing would be to browse for links to popular music sites (like last.fm, spotify, pandora and stuff). After that I would just need a huge Database of musicians and tracks to find out of which artist they are talking about. I'm pretty sure there are enough APIs out there to get that information.

Any other suggestions?
