Hey Everyone,

I take it a lot of you are freelancers and not full time webmasters. Well lets face it, sooner or later we all have down time where the work isn't coming in OR you are waiting for the content to be finished by the client. So what do you do with your down time? Do you study new stuff, market yourself, work on search engines, catch up on old projects, take a vacation from it all, read a book?

Anyway I would appreciate any suggestions you may have. I might have a couple of days before I get slammed with a lot of work (waiting for content and images) so I would love to hear what you guys do...

1.. guess this should be moved to another topic.. and not in the "link swaps"..

2. down time : i guess there will not be.. cos most of us webmasters have our own websites. so any free time if we have goes for the maintenance of that..
plus many new things are coming, will be catching up on that.

guess everything is correct.. u have given almost all options.. depending on where they are and what they are doing, any one of this will be taken up/done..

downtime...theres a word every webmaster hates, in every context of the word.

if i'm not building for my work, then i'm working on my own site. i'm posting here, i'm helping other people about in there. otherwise i'm writing SEO articles, talking to other webmasters, formulating ideas and ways of getting myself better placed on the search engines.

mainly though, i don't have free time. education and work takes up 75% of it, then being in a band is another 10%, webbuilding and forums, working on site etc 5%, and then getting drunk 10%, so i'm all outta time.

my time is always taken up by something, so i don't really suffer from downtime. if i get some though, then homing your building skills, learning more about languages, or improving your own site and helping others are sure to pass the hours

I rarely have any downtime. I am always working on a project for my web design portfolio. Oh yea, read a book! Books are always great for relaxation. Don't get to obsessed like me

Downtime, hmmm, I've heard that word.

If there's free time from one site, there is always work to be done on another. And like digital mentioned, time from a project gives you time to work on another, study, read, catch-up (my favorite 'cause I never can catch-up), honey-do projects, etc.

But I suggest to all, that if there comes a moment of downtime due to whatever, you might consider taking the time to relax. All too often we tie up our lives with being busy when we need to give some time to ourselves and our families/friends.

That's a little Dave philosophy that's not often followed, even by Dave.
