Amazing. Hard to believe, but seems to be the real deal so far.

Wouldn't that be awesome if this was the cure, reminds me of the movie "Medicine Man." Nice read DarkLordSith, thanks for supplying the link, sure hope they can move along with their research.

It would be cool if it was a cure but most likely they will find something wrong with it.

They mentioned it will be at least seven years before they could even have it approved. One wonders though what is in that fruit that could shrink a tumor?

Think there was a message in the movie "Medicine Man" due to them cutting the trees down in the rain forest. It's a shame this will take another seven years before being approved.

How can the fruit extract possibly differentiate from normal cells and cancerous cells? I mean there's not much of a difference between the two - just the over-proliferation of one.
I'm also interested in seeing how our governments will respond to such a treatment - and how quickly they'll stop all funding for research.

It is "odd" how it works ( apparently )
I dont think it really does what it says it does,
I think the fact that they inject it into the tumor makes your immune system attack it.
I think if they were to inject normal tissue with it, It will have the same effect but on healthy tissue.
I would assume its just a case of making sure all the tumor is covered with the extract and possibly some surrounding tissue.
So while it may kill the tumor, it (i would expect ) will also damage healthy tissue ( that will be repaired normally anyway )
Lets hope that it doesnt get bought out by big pharmer and then buried to help profits on normal drugs.

I had some experience, in the family, with cancer and it is really painful, good bless the drugs at these times...
Regarding this new possibility, I think that it gone be good for a lot of people and they should reduce the 7 years before approval because a lot of persons are going to die, and are suffering with the actual treatments.
About the trees, I think that is no problem as farms don't have to take them down, they just have to produce fruits.
Any way this is a hope for all.

This very hopeful news, I just quoted most of this information out to a school chum of mine, she refuses to go on a computer.

Penicillin/Antibiotics seem know how to kill infections caused by bacteria and fungus, I would conclude the fruit extract would work the same way. Something about the cancer cells attracts the fruit extract, and the fruit extract decides to obliterate it. It's a shame there wasn't more a technical explanation, but as time goes on I am sure we will all be briefed.

Right, but a tumor is not composed of "cancer cells", it's composed of too much of the wrong cells.
On a completely unrelated note, this reminds me of the cure for the HIV virus they've recently found. It's a plant at the bottom of some ocean. The problem is that very little of the plant actually produces the chemical required, and very little of the given plants actually exist. I believe they're trying to isolate the genetic information that actually codes for the cure, and will be running it through PCR to mass produce the DNA strand.

that would be very good. After all research made in the past here we are we will just figure that it can all be found in just a plant. This is really impressive.
