Something I wrote a day or two after the Super Bowl, just for fun:
All the Whos in Who-Dat-Ville, New Orleans by name,
Were gathered together to watch the big game
Their team for the first time had Super Bowl fame
“We are putting the S back in Saints!” was their claim
But in the first quarter they had quite a jolt--
Their opponents, the Indianapolis Colts
Got ten points on the board while the Saints, they had none
The Whos of Who-Dat-Ville looked awfully glum
Then the Colts held the Saints down to two field goal kicks
So the Colts still had ten while the Saints they had six
At the end of the half as the players retired
All the Whos of Who-Dat-Ville they prayed and prayed hard
At halftime, Who roadies assembled the stage
Then The Who started playing -- What music they played!
To lasers and fireworks, then quicker than bolts
Continued the fight of Who Dat and the Colts
Who Dat made the kickoff and made it onside
Players piled on the ball and they piled on it high
They peeled layers of players off then made the call
And on the last layer the Saints had the ball!
With a great mighty drive Who Dat made a TD
Answered back by the Colts, then a field goal for three
By the Saints had them trailing, but only by one
On the edge of their seats were the Whos every one
Then with a touchdown, Who Dat hooked up the lead!
The two-point conversion, though, didn’t succeed,
Or so it was thought, the Saints challenged the call
And they ruled that they had the two points, after all
Then the Colts’ quarterback made a throw – intercepted!
Who Dat ran it back first for six, and then seven!
His jaw dropped right down, and right there it remained
Or so we are told, for the rest of the game.
And then the Saints suddenly were a sensation!
They were Super Bowl champs for the whole Who Dat Nation!
And all of the Who Dats, the tall and the small
Gathered ‘round, celebrated, reminded us all
That the Saints will be back -- better look for them later,
And don’t you, just don’t, don’tcha be a Who hater!
