ANYBODY running Windows XP or earlier needs to be aware of this.

This may NOT get automatically patched as XP is out of mainstream support.

Thanks Chris for supplying the informational link, we should be all right.

Early part of December of last year came close to buying a Mac just to try out. Figured maybe this would be easier for my husband, come to find out some of the software is for windows only.

The beauty of owning a Mac, Giselle, is that you can dual boot them so they're got Max OS X and Windows on the same machine. That way, you can still run your windows only apps when you need to, and enjoy the secure Mac OS X for everything else

I say go for it!

Thanks Ed for the tip, I never thought to ask Ken at the Computer shop if the Mac had a dual boot. I have a dual boot. I know nothing about the Mac machines, hm, I shall have to go back and talk to Ken some more about the Mac he was selling.

It's worth it Giselle:

<smugness>
no viruses
no malware or spyware
no microsoft yay!
</smugness>

I've got quite a few clients that actually use Parallels to use Windows within the Mac OS X which is very cool. I tell you, you've got to use one of the new iMacs to believe it: mine has a 27" screen that is just to die for, it rips through video rendering like you wouldn't believe and handles everything I throw at it with no fuss at all
