And what does this accomplish? Nothing.
I'm keeping my lights on, thank you very much.

I do believe that Earth shall get along just fine whether I turn my light out or not. Earth will get along just fine whether humans are on it or not. Even if we lay waste to everything but the cockroaches, Earth will still shake us off and heal. It's already withstood blasts greater than our entire nuclear arsenal. Woulda sucked to have been the dominant species there when it happened, though. So, please explain how one insignificant blob of monkey-shaped protoplasm flipping a light switch for one hour in the billions of years long history of the planet is going to accomplish something significant to said planet?

Instead of people turning their lights off for one hour, they should shut their mouths for one hour and that will help the world even better.

What days does webmaster talk hold their gang bangs? My friend wants to know, anyway, I shall probably turn off all the mains electric for the hour, off to go and clean up my generator and get it ready for doing my bit for mankind. (probably need to buy some more petrol for it)

As for Knight, there's a lot of wisdom in his statement, in fact much more would be accomplished.
Just who are you supporting by turning off your lights for an hour? What does it accomplish and what's the point?

the point is all about how much you care about others about world, even if you CANT do huge things for others/world at least you do what you can.
well...i dont blame if many people dont care. because im pretty sure people like that dont have many friends in real OR..
not many people care about "them" in real too. so..they stop care about others *just my opinion*PEACE
change yourself before hoping change for a better life *i read that somewhere* no offense

No offense taken. There are many many other ways of caring for the Planet, turning lights out for an hour for me is pointless. What makes more sense to me would be planting a tree. I am surprised at San Francisco turning the lights off for an hour on the Golden Gate Bridge, the lights are on there for a reason.
Basically most people do care in their own special way, by people not turning their lights off for an hour has nothing to do with how many friends they have or changing their life. What you are inferring, a serial killer, drug dealer, etc. decides to turn their lights off for an hour on this particular day, they are the better person, they have all the friends and have a super life?

Just because I refuse to turn my lights off for a pointless hour, doesn't mean I don't have a life, friends and other things.
You might want to think before you type, and reread what you typed before you submit since you just made yourself out to be a stuck up and ignorant person for such comments.
You want to know what I do for Earth?
I plant and grow trees, flowers and other various plants.
I recycle.
I use energy saver bulbs.
I run on my laptops battery whenever I can.
I walk to places in short distances instead of using a car.
And that's just a start. And you know what? I got a life, I got friends and I have people that care about me.
What can you say for yourself?
