On a slight angular route,

I had to chuckle at the typically British reaction from one of the local councillors when asked for her reaction to the shootings.

She said "It's a tragedy for Whitehaven and for Cumbria! The area relies heavily on the tourist trade and this is half-term week, and the last thing we need are things like this putting off the tourists from coming to the area"!

Well Hello! Some geezer has just shot twelve people and you worry about the tourists?
Good heavens Woman! It will bring them in in DROVES for a few months!

Look at the amount of tourist visit the German ww11 death camps each year, death is a popular tourist attraction

Anyway back to Mr Bird, a man scorned and ripped off, gets the piss taken out of him by his mates goes on the rampage, believe there is a second bar but never took a picture of that one.

Dunblane and Hungerford still attract tourists for the same reasons.

Freckleton (a small town near me) gets US tourists because of a air crash that happened in 1944

Yeah Hungerford was a bit of a bugger, they changed all the fire arms laws after that, thats when I left the UK.

I remember the talks of joining Europe, I had my plans to spend my millions, most of Europes laws at that time were a lot laxer than the UK, tear gas, stun guns and other fun stuff all legally available in most of europe, we started getting the old stun guns, couldn't get enough of the buggers, every man and his dog wanted one, the govt panicked and made them section 5 fire arms, section 5 is sub machine guns

ie real serious offence, then it got worse and worse and then Michael Ryan hit the scene

Well, governments have to be seen "doing things" no matter how ineffectual it might be.

In every country in the world that has reasonably strict licensing laws, including the USA, it is cheaper to buy an illegal off license gun, gun control doesn't work and really doesn't need such strict controls, just about every household in Switzerland has access to a gun, they aint going on rampages everyday killing dozens of people, an armed nation makes a politer nation
