Someone asked me to check how much their domain is worth since they are planning to sell it. Domain was registered 11 years ago and belongs to pharmacy/prescriptions world.

How do I determine the domains worth? Any ideas?

You can check it on www.websiteoutlook.com but the price you get is not the real worth of a domain. But it worths that you check your website's value over there one time.

Domain names are worth one of two things:

Registration/transfer fees OR

What some fool will pay for them!

Junk "tools" such as that mean nothing at all in the real world.

If you are selling a website then there is something tangible to base a price on, ie: the revenue from the site.

12 years or so ago google.com was worth 10 bucks, still think its a crap name but I'm going to offer them $500 for it, I'm going to turn it into a website to sell purple colored curtains with yellow triangles on them, I think with the traffic they get I could hit the big time.

Discussing this with my gay friends equilateral triangles won't make the big time, something to do with drugs and needing everything to look weird as they persue their perverted sexual acts, so they need big tall pointy triangles.

Depends on the domain, links to the domain, what premium keywords, the traffic for those keywords, popularity and other factors.
