I was just made aware of this and wanted to let anyone else interested know that there is some software made available through MSDN Academic Alliance free to computer science students or related fields. As far as I'm aware, it doesn't include other majors but you could try and see. Not sure of exact web link but msdnaa will redirect you to it. Your school has to be registered for it. From the link given, you will scroll down and find the link "Search for schools", put in your schools info, and it will direct you to the page listing the software available for free to you. It will require a login and password which you can get from the program administrator at your school. The website itself will tell you who your program administrator is and give you their contact info. I contacted mine and she told me that the offer is legit and gave me the login for it.
