Hello
I am pondering over getting an ipad or not as I have a lot of Apple vouchers =D
Is it good and is it worth the way over-priced price tag?
Thanks!

Why on earth anyone would want one is beyond me. Most people have just been so well brainwashed by Apple that need such devices just to be "trandy" and "fit-in" that people have clearly gone mad.
If you really want one and can see a use for everything it does that isn't currently being fulfilled by anything else you own (netbook, laptop, iPhone, Blackberry, iPod Touch, etc) then sure, buy it.
Otherwise don't bother. It'll be obsolete in 6-12 month no doubt and then you'll have to fork out for the next version or risk being a social lepor and lose all your new friends that having an iPad has bought you.

I've used one, and I can say that if you have a use for it, they are pretty much the most amazing bits of kit you'll ever get your hands on.
Surfing the internet on them is amazing. Far better than a laptop, desktop or any other mobile device. The controls are so intuitive, it's almost as if the internet was designed for the iPad, not the other way around.
They have their drawbacks, but only because most people simply don't understand what they're for. They are not a replacement for a laptop or a desktop, they have no USB ports or anything like that.
What they are meant for is as a companion unit to either a laptop or a desktop. And this is where they really excel.
The games and apps on them are just superb.
I honestly have never been so impressed by a piece of technology as I was when I used an iPad.

Seriously, I completely agree with you. I will never encourage such a company who puts way more efforts into marketing rather than into new ideas and coding.
Ipad is scrap. You want one because it looks good and cool, but in fact this is the worst ergonomic machine on earth, doesn't support flash. It like a big ipod touch that does not fill the need of a full laptop: money waste!
Cheap hardware, bad ergonomics!
Apple made their way by using and open source project Unix and by closing it and selling it! They destroyed the open source idea and I will never suppor them!

Most of Apple's business revolves around new ideas. They're behind most major jumps in home computing: From home PCs themselves (yes, an Apple invention), adding a GUI & mouse, creating the desktop publishing world, right the way through to the landmark iPod, iPhone and now iPad. They've reinvented more markets than anyone, and without Apple, PCs and Windows simply wouldn't even exist. Pretty much everything Windows has to offer has been first started at Apple.
The point of an iPad is that it's NOT meant to be a laptop replacement.
Apple do use Unix as their base system, but they've added so much more on top that of course they sell it. The Darwin build of unix is available for free, open source. Open source is a key part of Apple's software strategy, and they contribute massively to various projects, most recently of course being WebKit. If you use Chrome, you're using WebKit.
You can learn all about Apple's contributions in that area here:

Never has a post been just so wrong as yours! Incredible!

I haven't, I don't really have a use for it as I have a laptop. I've a friend who's got one, and they are seriously cool bits of kit. You really haven't surfed the web till you've done it on an iPad

Oh I see. It's a matter of priority. If you really don't need such thing then don't buy it. It's a wise decision.
